The delays come on the same day that a ban on vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes came into force. The ban is expected to last 12 to 18 months after National Highways discovered the cables supporting the structure were deteriorating.
The change means many hauliers will now be forced to use the Prince of Wales Bridge instead.
