LIVE updates as section of M6 shut
Drivers are facing disruption on the M6 with part of the motorway closed near Wigan.
Roadworks have overrun on the southbound carriageway at junction 26, for the M58 Orrell Interchange.
National Highways says the works should have ended at 6am this morning (June 19).
Queues are building approaching the scene.
A National Highways North West spokesperson said: "The M6 remains closed southbound within J26 for (Wigan) due to a planned overnight roadworks that has overrun its agreed completion time of 06:00.

"Contractors are working to reopen the road as soon as it is safe.
"There are delays of up to 15 minutes on the approach."
