Live updates as rain and wind set to hit Wales amid expected Hurricane Ian fallout

Heavy rain and winds nearing 50mph are expected to hit Wales today as the fallout from Hurricane Ian in the USA moves across the Atlantic. A yellow weather warning for wind and rain is in place for the north of the UK for most of today, Friday September 30. No warnings have been issued for Wales but it's still set to be a very wet and windy day across the region according to The Met Office. The adverse weather conditions will primarily hit the north west coast of the country, however heavy rainfall - up to 16mm per hour will be seen across the whole country. The worst of the conditions will be seen through Friday morning and afternoon, slowly clearing throughout the evening. The Met Office forecast for Wales for Friday, September 30 reads: "A bright but chilly start for many, with some mist and fog. Quickly turning cloudy, wet and windy from the northwest as rain sweeps across the whole of Wales by lunchtime. A wet afternoon but rain clearing by the evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

"Staying blustery overnight. Plenty of clear spells through the start of the night but scattered showers moving in through the early hours of Saturday. Minimum temperature 9 °C."
