Live updates as mountain fire sees helicopter deployed to douse flames

Plumes of smoke is seen rising into the air as the fire service tackle a mountain fire in Gelli, Rhondda, this evening.

South Wales Fire and Rescue confirm that they have four appliances and specialist equipment at the scene. Pictures from eyewitnesses shows a helicopter deployed to douse water over the area.

People have been advised to keep their windows shut as a precaution. Some locals have expressed concern as the fire is near old coal and refuse tips.
