Live updates as Met Office extends warning with snow falling and temperatures dropping to -7°C

The Arctic blast continues with snow falling in parts of Wales on Friday morning, and forecasters predicting that temperatures will remain below average for the time of year well into next week.

People in parts of north Wales woke up to a covering of snow on Friday, with crashes reported on the A55 in Anglesey and in Flintshire, near Pentre Halkyn amid freezing road conditions. The snow comes after Wales experienced the coldest night of the winter so far with temperatures down to -7.9C in parts of Powys.

A Met Office weather warning for ice across a large part of Wales throughout Friday forecasting "frequent wintry showers" has now been extended until Sunday.

The cold weather will continue through the weekend and into next week with sleet, snow and ice still possible. BBC Wales forecaster Derek Brockway also says there is the chance of "widespread snow" next week.
