Live updates as M4 and M5 heavy congestion causes delays for holidaymakers at Swansea, Port Talbot, Cardiff, Newport and towards Devon and Cornwall

Heavy traffic on the M4 and an accident on the M5 are causing long delays for holidaymakers getting away for the weekend.

Traffic Wales are reporting congestion at various spots along the M4 corridor in south Wales due to the volume of traffic on the motorway. There are not accident or incidents to report.

The organisation that monitors the roads in Wales says the pinch points are:

Delays between Cardiff and Newport are around 25 minutes.

There has also been a major accident on the M5 heading to the south west, Devon and Cornwall.

Highways England says that two lanes are closed southbound between junction 22 and junction 23.

Emergency services are at the scene, and there are delays of around 25 minutes above normal journey times.
