Live updates as education minister Jeremy Miles give update about Covid in schools
Wales' education minister Jeremy Miles will give an update about Covid guidance for schools in a press conference on Tuesday, May 3. It will start at noon.
As it stands, Wales is at alert level zero and almost all restrictions have been lifted. Masks are now only a legal requirement in health and social care settings.
In schools, staff are working with their council and have to follow the reasonable measures guidance, which sets out requirements on employers to carry out risk assessments. Children under five are not recommended to take a test unless they have symptoms, and any child with mild cold-like symptoms is told to continue going to school if they are fit to do so.
Schools are expected to reduce close interactions between all individuals wherever possible. Schools should also encourage older learners to maintain distancing where possible. You can see the full Welsh Government guidance for schools here.
