Live updates as accident causes heavy congestion on the M4 at Bridgend

There is currently heavy congestion on the M4 in Bridgend.

According to traffic monitoring service, Inrix, there is queueing traffic and one lane closed due to the accident on the M4 eastbound from J36 A4061 in the Sarn Service Station area to J35 A473 in Pencoed. South Wales Police have confirmed they were called to the scene following reports of a two-car crash in the area.

Lane three of three is currently closed. Traffic Wales has warned motorists about the heavy congestion in the area, and has advised them to plan ahead before travelling.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said they were called to the scene at around 12.35pm. In a statement, the police force said: "South Wales Police was called at 12.35pm this afternoon, Wednesday, November 8, with reports of a two-car crash on the M4 at junction 36, eastbound. Emergency services are continuing to work at the scene."
