LIVE updates amid M61 closure due to multi-vehicle crash
A section of the M61 in Greater Manchester was closed this morning southbound between J4 (near Bolton) and J3 (A666(M), Farnworth) due to a multi-vehicle crash.
This section of the M61 is now back open but two of the three lanes remain closed with long delays expected.
Emergency services, including Greater Manchester Police, are at the scene. National Highways contractors are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management.
National Highways are advising road users travelling southbound to follow the Solid Circle diversion symbol on road signs.
