LIVE: Thunder and lightning hits Greater Manchester following heatwave

Thunder and lightning have finally hit Greater Manchester following the recent heatwave.

The Met Office previously said there would be 'widespread heavy and thundery showers' breaking out, with a risk of hail and lightning.

Loud raps of thunder have also been heard across Stockport.

Forecasters said people should expect 'heavy and thundery showers continuing into the evening, gradually clearing overnight, though remaining cloudy with further outbreaks of rain moving in from the northwest. Staying warm'.
