LIVE: Street taped off and air ambulance scrambled amid major collision - latest updates

A street in Radcliffe is taped off this evening with an air ambulance also called to the scene following a major collision involving a motorbike.

Police, fire crews and paramedics are currently in attendance at Ainsworth Road and Lowe Street, near to the Victoria Hotel. The road is cordoned off currently as emergency crews respond.

Pictures from the scene appeared to show two cars badly damaged in the middle of the road, with a motorbike seen on the ground beside them.

An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene earlier today, landing nearby. Further details about the incident have not yet been confirmed but Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for information.

The motorcyclist involved in the collision has suffered 'serious life-changing injuries', GMP have confirmed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 4pm this afternoon (Thursday 24th October), two fire engines from Bury Central and Whitefield fire station were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars and a motorbike on Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe.
