Police are in attendance with parts of Ainthorpe Walk in Newton Heath having been taped off.

Eyewitnesses say there is damage to the window of a property on the street, which is off Daisy Bank and Droylsden Road.

Photos show what appear to be bullet holes in the window of the house.

A resident said the house that had been ‘targeted’ was home to a couple and their young son.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed there had been a firearms incident.

A spokesperson said: "At around 9.55pm last night (16 September), officers responded to reports of a suspected firearms discharge on Ainthorpe Walk, Manchester.

"Officers attended the scene, and a man was discovered with minor injuries to his head. The causes of the injuries are being investigated.

"A scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing."
