LIVE: Schools 'on lockdown' as man arrested on Greater Manchester street - latest updates
At least two schools are understood to have gone into 'lockdown' this afternoon as police attended an incident in Middleton.
Officers were called out to Wood Street at around 12.10pm following reports of threats being made by a man shouting in the street.
Greater Manchester Police says a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
Parents and carers have been contacted by at least two schools nearby, informing them their children were being kept indoors this afternoon.

The Manchester Evening News has seen correspondence from both Bowlee Park Community School and St Mary's RC Primary School, which are both close to the scene.
A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 12.10pm today (November 13), officers responded to reports of a man shouting and making threats on Wood Street, Middleton.
"Officers attended and a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. Enquiries are ongoing."

Both Bowlee Park and St Mary's schools are in close proximity, in the Wood Street area.
Rochdale council and the Diocese of Salford have been approached for further details on behalf of the two schools.
Schools in this part of Middleton have been subject to other previous lockdowns.
Bowlee Park was evacuated in June after someone threatened to bomb the site.
Two weeks earlier, both Bowlee Park and St Mary's went into lockdown after someone had reportedly been seen with a knife outside.
