LIVE: Ryan Giggs trial latest updates as Manchester United star 'headbutted ex and elbowed her sister', jury told

Further evidence was being heard today at the trial of former Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs. The former Wales manager is accused of controlling and coercive behaviour against ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville, between August 2017 and November 2020.

He is also charged with assaulting Ms Greville and causing her actual bodily harm at his home near Worsley, Greater Manchester, on November 1, 2020 and common assault against her younger sister, Emma Greville, in the alleged same incident.

Jurors have been told he headbutted his ex-partner and elbowed her sister. Mr Giggs, 48, has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is standing trial at Manchester Crown Court.

The trial was entering its seventh day today - Tuesday.

Jurors heard on Monday that a neighbour of Mr Giggs told him 'oh Ryan, not this again' after she was informed of allegations that he'd been seeing other women. On the sixth day of the trial on Monday, Emma Greville gave evidence and denied that the alleged headbutt was 'accidental'.

Asked why, she said: "The way he grabbed her [Kate's] shoulders, headbutted her and told me he would headbutt me next, for me is not an accident." She added: "Never did he apologise to me or my sister, when she was on the floor screaming."

Defending, Chris Daw QC had put it to her that it was an accidental 'clash of heads' during a 'scuffle' in the kitchen of Mr Giggs' Swinton home.

Jurors have heard that Mr Giggs and Kate Greville had been at the Stock Exchange hotel in Manchester, on the evening of November 1, 2020. Ms Greville returned to the property, shortly followed by Mr Giggs, following an argument after Ms Greville claimed to have evidence that he'd been unfaithful during their relationship.
