LIVE: Road shut both ways after lorry overturns under railway bridge - latest updates

A road in Stockport has been shut off both ways this afternoon after a lorry overturned under a railway bridge.

Compstall Road, where the road merges into Stockport Road, is currently shut off near the bridge next to Romiley station. Photos show the lorry on its side on top of a Post Office van.

The road will be 'shut for some time'. It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone is injured.

A tweet posted by MancTraffic said: "Stockport Rd, Romiley CLOSED from Church Lane to Oakwood Rd after a lorry overturned under the railway bridge by the Station. Queues both ways.

"Divert via Woodley using George Lane, Hyde Rd, Smithy Green, Werneth Rd & Sandy Lane but #expectdelays Will be shut for some time."
