LIVE press conference and reaction after damning report into child sexual exploitation in Oldham
The region's leaders are holding a press conference this morning after a damning report into child sexual exploitation in Oldham was published.
The review, published today nearly three years after being commissioned, found that children in the town were being exploited, and failed by some of the services meant to protect them.
Among its damning findings, the review uncovered that:
The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, Deputy Mayor Bev Hughes, Leader of Oldham Council, Cllr Amanda Chadderton, Chief Constable of GMP, Stephen Watson, and Independent Reviewers Malcolm Newsam and Gary Ridgeway will all be speaking at the press conference, being held in Manchester city centre.

Mr Newsam says the interventions of both the council and police fell far short in their duty to protect her. These failures were compunded by the response from GMP and Oldham council, which did not acknowledge the weaknesses in their investigations and social services involvement
