LIVE: Police 'swarm' Oldham road with cordon in place - updates

A large police presence and road closures are being reported tonight in an area of Oldham.

A witness at the scene on Thursday evening said police officers have 'swarmed' around roads near to Alexandra Park in the Glodwick area of the town.

It's also understood that the police helicopter was called out and sent to the scene.

The Manchester Evening News has approached GMP for further details.

Orme Street and Minton Street - off Park Road through Glodwick - are said to have been cordoned off by Greater Manchester Police officers.

The nature of what has exactly happened isn't known as yet. Images from the scene show police tape across one road with officers stood manning a cordon at either end.

Forensic investigators have been pictured examining a pane of glass. Our reporter says windows have been damaged.
