LIVE Police close major road in Northern Quarter with air ambulance reported - updates

A major city centre road has been closed following a 'police incident'.

Officers have cordoned off a section of road at the junction of Oldham Street and Dale Street in the Northern Quarter. The incident happened around 5pm.

Witnesses have reported seeing an air ambulance circling the area. Fire crews and a number of other ambulances have also been spotted nearby.

In a post on Twitter, bus company Stagecoach warned: "A police incident has closed Oldham St/Dale St Junction, affecting these services.

"All 112-119 services will start/fin at Shude Hill. 74-231 services will start on Lever St. We are sorry for the impact this may have on your journey."
