LIVE: Motorway delay chaos as queues on M602 and M60 following earlier incidents - latest updates

The M602 has been closed as police respond to an incident. Emergency services were at the scene between junctions two and three, in Salford, this morning (June 12).

The road was initially shut in both directions, but the westbound carriageway reopened first before the eastbound carriageway. Drivers are being warned to expect disruption ahead of rush hour following the closure.

A National Highways spokesperson posted on X: "The #M602 is now closed in both directions between J2 and J3 near #Salford due to a Police led incident. There are two miles congestion on approach to the closure eastbound and less than a mile westbound.

"Please allow extra journey time if in the area this morning." North West Motorway Police added: "M602 is currently closed both directions between junctions 2 (Gildabrook) and junction 3 (Regent Road), due to a police incident."

Further details are yet to be confirmed. The road fully reopened at 6.50am, with queues remaining at the scene.
