LIVE Motorway closed in both directions due to 'police incident'

A section of motorway has been fully closed due to an ongoing police incident. The A627M is closed in both directions between Edinburgh Way and M62 J20.

Police began closing the road around 6.10pm due to what is only being described as a 'police incident' so far. Delays are starting to build in the area.

A Transport for Greater Manchester statement said: "A627M between Edinburgh Way and M62 J20. FULL CLOSURE due to a police incident. If you are heading this way, please plan your journey to avoid delays."

North West Motorways police added: "A627M is being closed in both directions due to a Police Incident...To clarify the A627M has been closed both nb and sb between j3 and j4."

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more information.
