A stretch of the M60 in Salford has been shut tonight after a 'serious' crash. Multiple vehicles are said to have been involved in the collision between junction 15, for the M61, and junction 16 for Swinton.
"At least one vehicle which has crossed through the central reservation barrier" National Highways said.
"The road is likely to be closed for some time" they added. The motorway is closed both ways with diversions in place.
All three emergency services are currently at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for comment.

There are major delays this evening on the M60 with motorists advised to find other routes.
Police will remain at the scene for investigation work to be carried out.
A statement shared by National Highways this evening read: "The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed in both directions between J15 (M61) and J16 (Swinton) due to a serious multi-vehicle collision.
"All Emergency services including North West Motorway Police Group are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
"Due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to be closed for some time."
Horror pictures have shown the moment a lorry was crashed into an embankment after crossing the carriageway on the M60 and hitting six other vehicles on Thursday night (March 20).
Police, fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene between junction 15, for the M61, and junction 16 for Swinton. A full closure was put in place shortly after 7pm.
