LIVE: Major road shut off by police outside Asda with forensic tent in place - updates

A main road in Salford has been closed by police this morning. Great Cheetham Street East Broughton Village is currently shut.

Police are currently on the scene and the road is currently blocked in both directions, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.

The road is shut from its junction with Bury New Road to Leicester Road, outside the Asda supermarket. Photos show a major police scene with a forensic tent in place in the middle of the road.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is handling the incident on Great Cheetham Street East.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.
