LIVE: Major Manchester city centre street taped off by police following 'assault'
Police have taped off a major street in Manchester city centre.
Greater Manchester Police officers are stationed on a cordon at the junction of Chorlton Street and Portland Street. One image from the scene shows a medical bag at the scene.
The taped off area stretches along the side of Bar Wave, Yates and the Britannia Hotel.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted GMP for more information. The exact nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.
It is understood the police tape has been in place for several hours.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after 5am this morning (Saturday 13 May) Greater Manchester Police were called to concerns for welfare of a man at Portland Street, Manchester.
"Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital was serious injuries, but they are thankfully not believed to life threatening.
"A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He remains in police custody for questioning.
"The scene has now been closed."
The police have made an arrest after an assault as officers continue to investigate the incident in the city centre, the M.E.N. understands.
