LIVE: M62 updates after traffic STOPPED following multi-vehicle crash

All traffic was stopped on a stretch of the M62 this morning after a crash.

Traffic was being held on the eastbound side of the motorway. It was stopped between junction 11 for Birchwood and junction 12 for the Eccles Interchange.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, there has been a 'multi-vehicle accident'. Emergency crews are on the scene.

Two lanes now remain closed. Long queues and delays are building up to the closure.

They remain shut between J11 and J12.

Motorway cameras show heavy traffic and long queues up to the lane closures.

Two lanes have been reopened on the scene.

There is currently a 30-minute delay with three miles of congestion.

Traffic has been stopped between J11 and J12.
