LIVE M62 and M6 updates amid heavy traffic

There is heavy traffic across the region's motorways. The M6 is seeing heavy congestion around Cheshire after all traffic was temporarily held on the northbound carriageway because of a broken down horsebox.

The M62 is also filled with queues and congestion around Rochdale as one lane is closed due to emergency drain repairs on the westbound carriageway.

The traffic comes amid weather warnings that travel across the country could be further disrupted as the weather is expected to turn at around 3pm. Downpours are anticipated and a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office.

One lane remains closed due to broken down horsebox on M6 southbound between J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel) and J17 A534 Old Mill Road (Sandbach/Crewe). Traffic is coping well.

The M67 in both directions is closed, queueing traffic due to weekend roadworks until the early hours of Monday morning from J1A A6017 Stockport Road (Denton/Ashton-under-lyne) to J3 A627 Clark Way (Hyde).

Congestion to A57 between Hyde and Denton.

Traffic has now been released on the M6 after it was held because of a broken down horsebox. Traffic service Inrix says: "Traffic easing, earlier broken down horsebox on M6 Northbound between J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel) and J19 A556 (Knutsford)."

The event is expected to clear between 14:15 and 14:30, according to National Highways.

Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, there's queueing traffic and one lane closed due to emergency roadside drain repairs on M62 Westbound at J20 A627(M) J3 Rochdale. Congestion to J21 Milnrow and J22 Rishworth Moor.
