LIVE: M60 closed due to 'serious incident' with air ambulance landing on motorway - updates
The M60 has been closed this afternoon due to an ongoing 'serious incident' with an air ambulance landing at the scene.
Police are in attendance on the motorway between J23 and J24 with a full closure in place on the clockwise carriageway. An air ambulance has also been called to the incident.
North West Motorway Police urged drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes due to the full closure while investigation works take place.

Posting to X, they wrote: "We have a serious incident on M60 between j23 and j24 both carriageways will be closed to allow helimed to land and investigations to continue - please find another route."

Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being released past the scene in lane four.
