Live M4 updates as traffic congestion builds for fans en route to Stereophonics gig

There are delays on the M4 ahead of the first Sterophonics and Sir Tom Jones gig in the Welsh capital on Friday evening. Traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting very slow traffic on the M4 westbound from Monmouthshire which is adding to the usual Friday afternoon traffic around junctions 23A at Magor and 26 at Malpas Road.

Roads are already busier than usual as Wales looks set to bask in the warmest day of the year so far. Gates for the concert at Cardiff's Principality Stadium opened at 3pm. Follow live updates from the show here. If the recent Ed Sheeran concerts in the city are anything to go by, which saw 15 miles of traffic queuing to get into Wales, then roads are likely to get busier throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

The two shows will see Sir Tom Jones take to the stage at 6.15pm and Stereophonics beginning their set at 8pm. The show is scheduled to end at 10.30pm. The Principality Stadium roof will remain closed for the gig, as lighting fixtures will be attached to the roof. Find out all the details here. Rail companies have already warned of inevitable queuing at Cardiff Centra l and have put on extra carriages to cope with the demand.
