LIVE: Lorry falls off Thelwall Viaduct on M6 with motorway closed and emergency services at scene - updates
A lorry has fallen off the Thelwall Viaduct on the M6 near Warrington this evening. The motorway is closed on the northbound carriageway between J20 fo Lymm Interchange and J21 for the A57.
The HGV appears to have crashed through the barrier and fallen off the bridge, landing on the ground below. Police and fire crews remain at the scene with a full closure in place.
The latest update from Inrix reads: "M6 Northbound closed, stationary traffic due to serious accident, a lorry involved from J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) to J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston)."
Further details about the collision have not yet been confirmed. Cheshire Police have been contacted for a statement.

Lane closures to remain in place overnight following the major crash, Cheshire Police has warned.
Currently three lanes of four are closed on the northbound carriageway. One lane is open for traffic to pass through the scene.
There are currently delays of around 45 minutes.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Three lanes remain closed on the northbound carriageway due to serious damage caused to the barrier. One lane will remain open with a reduced speed limit.
"These lane closures will remain in place for some time, and are expected to continue into the morning. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route during this time."
National Highways has issued a further update tonight.
'Extensive barrier repairs' are required after the lorry crashed through them and landed in an embankment below the M6.
