LIVE: Large emergency response and road closed off after house fire

Emergency services are responding to a house fire in Partington this afternoon.

The blaze broke out at a house on Hardwick Road just before midday, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed. Fire crews, police officers and paramedics are on the scene.

According to local residents, a cordon has been put in place on the street. Smoke can reportedly be seen billowing from the home.

The fire service said the blaze involved 'terraced properties'. People are being urged to avoid the area.

The GMP spokesperson added that it no-one appears to have been left injured in the fire. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters have extinguished a fire involving terraced properties on Hardwick Road, Partington.

"Please avoid the area while crews keep the incident under control and make the area safe, as there are a number of engines in attendance."

The M.E.N understands no-one was seriously injured in the fire.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

"At shortly after 11.45am today (Thursday May 2) five fire engines from Sale, Altrincham, Agecroft, Stretford, and Hollins fire stations alongside a fire engine from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire involving mid-terraced houses on Hardwick Road, Partington.
