LIVE Huge police cordon in place as Bee Network buses smash into each other

Emergency services are on the scene in Eccles following an incident involving two Bee Network buses tonight (October 31).

The vehicles are understood to have collided close to the Eccles Metrolink stop on Regent Street.

A large cordon is in place following the incident. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Motorists should make alternative travel arrangements where possible.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident involved two single decker vehicles. Images from the scene show singificant damage to the front of one of the buses.

It is not yet know whether or not passengers were on board either vehicle. The incident is not believed to have affected Metrolink services.

Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and Transport for Greater Manchester have all be contacted for comment.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police has said one man was hurt although his condition is not serious following a collision between two buses.

Road closures remain in place around Regent Street, added the spokeswoman.

A spokeswoman for Transport for Greater Manchester has said neither bus had any passengers at the time of the crash.

Transport for Greater Manchester has just issued a statement to the Manchester Evening News.

A spokesperson said: "We're aware of a collision at Eccles Interchange at around 17.00 today involving two Bee Network buses. Our staff are fully supporting Greater Manchester Fire Service and North West Ambulance Service who were both in attendance."
