LIVE: Forensics scour house with huge police scene in place on residential street

A police cordon is in place on a street in Salford this afternoon amid an ongoing incident.

Officers are on the scene on South Radford Street in the Kersal area, with a cordon in place near where the street joins Kingsley Avenue. Fire crews and paramedics are also on the scene.

A police helicopter has also been spotted over the Kersal Wetlands, according to an eyewitness. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers are responding to an incident and have cordoned off the street.

A GMP spokesman has said: "We were called today (Monday 23 September 2024) to reports of a concern for welfare at an address on South Radford Street in Salford.

"Officers alongside North West Ambulance Service and also Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue are currently working at the scene to establish the full circumstances.

"This incident is contained and we don’t believe there to be any wider risk to the surrounding area. A cordon has been put in place and there is a scene is contained on South Radford Street and we thank the public for their patience as we continue to respond in the area."
