Train services on a busy Greater Manchester rail line are being disrupted. The line between Hindley and Salford Crescent is partially blocked due to a 'safety inspection of the track.'
Services from Wigan towards Manchester are currently being cancelled or diverted via Westhoughton. All stations between Daisy Hill and Swinton are not being served, Northern says.
"Network Rail are aware of the fault and engineers are expected on site at 7am," the operator said. "Northern tickets may be used at no additional costs on board any alternative Northern, TransPennine Express or LNER service via any reasonable route to complete your journey."
The disruption is expected until at least 8:30am.

The National Rail website says:
A safety inspection of the track between Hindley and Salford Crescent means the line towards Manchester is blocked.
As a result, services from Wigan towards Salford Crescent will be diverted to run via Westhoughton.
Daisy Hill, Hag Fold, Atherton, Walkden, Moorside and Swinton will not be served in the eastbound direction.
Trains are able to run normally from Salford Crescent towards Wigan.
Disruption is expected until 08:30.
Northern says services in the opposite direction are not affected. Ticket acceptance is in place with other operators.

Services between Salford Crescent - Hindley via Atherton are running as normal in this direction.
Customers who require stations towards Manchester are advised to board an alternative service towards Wigan and change at Hindley.
