LIVE: Busy Denshaw junction closed following crash - traffic updates

A busy road in an Oldham village has been closed following a road traffic collision. Police have taped off the junction of Rochdale Road, Huddersfield Road and Ripponden Road in Denshaw this afternoon.

Two people have been taken to hospital following the crash, according to the North West Ambulance Service.

Motorists have been told to avoid the area as they carry out their work. A picture posted by the GMP Oldham Division shows a Joseph Holt van behind the cordons with members of the force and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service securing the area.

"The lees>Saddleworth and Lees Neighbourhood team are currently dealing with a road traffic collision in Denshaw. The road is shut at the junction of Rochdale Road/Huddersfield Road/Ripponden Road. Please avoid the area as delays are to be expected."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 11.41am to reports of an RTC on Rochdale Road, Oldham. We sent a rapid response ambulance and an ambulance to the scene.

"Looks like we treated four patients at the scene, one a teenage male. Of the four patients, two patients with minor injuries were taken to Royal Oldham Hospital."

Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service have been contacted for more information.

According to Google's traffic monitoring tool, the junction remains closed with emergency services still at the scene.

Two people have been taken to Royal Oldham Hospital following the crash in Denshaw. Emergency services received a call regarding the collision on Rochdale Road at 11:41am on Wednesday (February 21).
