LIVE build-up as Bury FC look to earn promotion
Bury FC fans are heading to Gigg Lane in nervous anticipation this afternoon as they hope to earn promotion - six years after they were kicked out of the football league.
The Shakers were expelled from the English Football League in 2019 after a takeover bid from C&N Sporting Risk collapsed. But two years after two supporter-led groups merged to reform the club in 2023, the team have high hopes of topping the North West Counties League Premier Division.
Just one point from Saturday afternoon's game against Burscough Athletic could see them crowned champions. Fans are expected to turn up in droves, with more than 7,000 tickets already sold.
