A street in Oldham is taped off this evening following an assault. Police are at the scene with an evidence tent erected amid investigations.

Yorkshire Street in Oldham town centre is taped off in both directions with forensics also at the scene. Buses are being diverted amid the incident.

It is thought the scene has been in place since around 1.30pm. Officers have been pictured at the scene conducted enquiries into a reported assault throughout the afternoon.

Further details about the nature of the incident have not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.

It is not known what time the incident was reported, but a cordon has been in place since around 1.30pm this afternoon.

The police cordon runs from Waterloo Street to Horsedge Street.

The area is taped off outside the Old Bank pub. It is not known if the venue is connected to the incident.
