LIVE Airport traffic STOPPED after crash with air ambulance reported on scene

Motorists are facing delays on the approach to Manchester Airport this evening following a crash.

Traffic is building on Ringway Road, with reports of police blocking the road and the air ambulance on the scene. Eyewitnesses say the carriageway is closed past the airport pub and down Ringway Road west towards the airport.

It is not yet known whether anyone has been injured in the collision. Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for more information.

There are also long queues on several other major roads in the region.

Queues are building on the M60 clockwise from J8 A6144 (Carrington) to J12 M62 J12 (Eccles Interchange), with delays of approximately 30 minutes.

Elsewhere, the A57 Regent Road outbound is partially blocked with long delays due to emergency repairs at A5066 Oldfield Road.

There are also delays on the A57(M) Mancunian Way outbound from Ancoats to Salford, with delaysd of around 20 minutes during the evening rush hour.
