LIVE: Air ambulance scrambled to street as man taken to hospital with serious injuries after assault

Emergency services have been scrambled to a road in Ardwick where a cordon is currently in place.

Five police vehicles and two Tactical Aid Units were seen on Markfield Avenue. It is understood that an air ambulance had also been spotted earlier this afternoon, September 7.

The precise nature of the incident is not yet known. Images from the scene show that the road has been cordoned off whilst detectives are investigating.

A blue forensic tent has also been erected within the cordon.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further information.

Crime scene investigators have now arrived on the street.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an assault. A spokesperson said:

At around 5pm today (7 September) officers responded to reports of a serious assault on Markfield Avenue, Manchester.

One male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains for treatment.

Officers will remain at the scene for the coming hours as they continue their enquiries.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to call 101 quoting log 2514 of 7/9/24.
