LIST | Youngest debutants in PSL history after Sundowns field 16-year-old Siyabonga Mabena

At 16 years old and 24 days Siyabonga Mabena made his top-flight senior debut for Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in a 5-1 thumping of Royal AM.

After Mothobi Mvala nailed in Downs' fifth goal to seal the win, head coach Rhulani Mokwena opted to make Mabena's night even more memorable.

The grade 10 pupil from Clapham High School in Queenswood, Pretoria, came on for veteran superstar Themba Zwane.

Mabena was born on 18 February 2007.

1. Mkhanyiseli Siwahla

Born 3 September 1988

At 15 years‚ five months‚ 22 days he made his debut for Ajax Cape Town against Dynamos on 25 February 2004. He was in the starting line-up and scored.

2. Steve Lekoelea

Born 5 February 1979

The legendary Orlando Pirates star made his debut at 15 years‚ eight months‚ 15 days for Moroka Swallows against Bloemfontein Celtic on 20 October 1994. He was in the starting line-up.

3. Kobamelo Kodisang

Born 28 August 1999

Made his debut at 15 years‚ 11 months‚ 29 days for Platinum Stars against Golden Arrows on 26 August 2015. He now plays in Portugal for Moreirense FC.

4. Bradley Carnell

Born 21 January 1977

The Bafana Bafana legend was 16 years and 12 days old when he turned out for Wits University against Cape Town Spurs on 5 February‚ 1993. Carnell is now the head coach of St. Louis City SC.

5. Siyabonga Mabena

Born 18 February 2007

The School of Excellence prodigy moved to the Brazilians and made his senior debut at 16 years and 24 days against Royal AM on 14 March 2023, coming on for Themba
