Lisandro Martinez shows emotional reaction to Martial goal for Manchester United in new footage

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez emotionally fell to his knees after Anthony Martial doubled Manchester United's lead against Everton.

Martial, 27, scored the second goal after coming on as a second-half substitute at Old Trafford to secure all three points after midfielder Scott McTominay initially gave Erik ten Hag's team a lead before the half-time interval. For United, it was a welcome sight to see the ball again finding its way past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who made nine saves during the match.

No one encapsulated that sense of relief more than Martinez. The 25-year-old started the move with a forward pass down the left wing, which fortuitously found Jadon Sancho on the edge of the penalty area, who assisted Martial after playing the ball into the forward's path.

As the former France international took a touch before finishing one-on-one with Pickford, his teammate fell to his knees on the halfway line with both fists clenched in front of him, a TikTok video from @this_is_oldtrafford shows via r/reddevils on Reddit. Martinez's hands then moved onto his hips as he took a deep breath before punching the air with his right and eventually returning to his feet.

Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire were soon over to celebrate with the Argentina international on the halfway line, embracing each other before walking up the pitch towards the goalscorer. Martinez has quickly emerged as one of United's emotional leaders throughout the 2022/23 season; this is just the latest display of passion from the defender.
