Lionel Messi's entourage issues clear response to David Beckham transfer claims

Lionel Messi's camp have reportedly denied he plans to join David Beckham's Inter Miami next summer and take a 35 percent stake in the MLS franchise upon the expiration of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

The Argentine has netted just six domestic goals across 26 appearances – including twice at Montpellier this weekend - since his joining PSG from Barcelona last summer. PSG completed their Ligue 1 title success in April but fans are so disillusioned with their side at the moment that they did not want to celebrate the triumph with the players.

Now aged 34, Messi’s struggles saw him snubbed from the Ligue 1 Team of the Season selection while his dad Jorge admitted he "hopes" his son returns to Barcelona "some day". Recent reports have indicated that Messi is unhappy in Paris as he has failed to settle in the city and at the club for multiple reasons.

In March, PSG fans booed Messi and Neymar during the club's first Ligue 1 match following their elimination from the Champions League by Real Madrid at the last-16 stage. The two South American superstars were jeered with every touch of the ball they had against Bordeaux.

A report from Alex Candal of DIRECTV Sports claimed that Messi is ready to quit European football altogether when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires at the end of next season. It was claimed that not only is he preparing to join Inter Miami – the club run by David Beckham – but he is preparing to take on 35 percent of its shares.
