Lionel Messi: PSG teammate was fuming with him for not tracking back

Lionel Messi really hasn’t been himself during the 2021/22 season.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s move to Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t exactly worked out so far, which is proven by the fact that he currently has just two goals in Ligue 1 action.

Messi has at least assisted a further eight in his 15 French top-flight appearances, but you still expect far more from arguably the greatest football who has ever lived.

The 34-year-old was recently hammered for his performance in PSG’s 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League, with L’Equipe handing him a brutal rating of 3/10.

That was incredibly harsh by the French publication, as apart from a missed penalty in the second half, Messi was far from bad against Los Blancos.

Well, when the ball was at his feet anyway..

Why do we say that? Well, new footage has surfaced that shows Danilo Pereira absolutely losing it with Messi for not doing his defensive duties in the second half.

Messi lost the ball by the corner flag and then started ambling along while Real Madrid broke forward on the counter.

Danilo had to scythe Vinicius Junior down from behind to save PSG, an action which saw him correctly yellow carded by the referee.

And after being cautioned, the Portuguese midfielder made his feelings towards Messi’s lack of effort very clear indeed…
