Limerick's Iris Kennelly is LGFA Player of Month for March

Iris Kennelly from TUS Midwest and Limerick has been named the Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month for March 2022.

Kennelly, 20, was in superb form for college and county during the month of March, as TUS Midwest (formerly Limerick IT) claimed the Yoplait Lagan Cup title, while Limerick advanced to the Lidl National League Division 4 Final.

From the Old Mill club in Limerick, Iris scored 1-5 for TUS Midwest in their Yoplait Lagan Cup Final win over TU Dublin on International Women's Day, Tuesday, 8 March.

This performance earned Iris the Player of the Match award, and she also secured a place on the Rising Stars selection, which recognises the efforts of players in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh tier Ladies HEC third-level competitions.

Limerick may have lost out to Offaly in the Division 4 Final on 3 April but Kennelly played a key role throughout the campaign for the Shannonsiders, contributing a total of 4-6.

That consistent form saw her named this week on the Lidl National League Division 4 Team of the League.
