Liel Abada's hidden Celtic landmark as 'double double' sees winger join elite European list

Flying Celtic winger Liel Abada is one of just five under-21 players to clear ten goals AND assists in Europe this season.

The Israeli joined in the summer as one of Ange Postecoglou 's first signings and has made himself a key performer under the Australian.

He's Celtic 's top scorer in the league with ten, eclipsing even Giorgos Giakoumakis (nine) and Kyogo (eight) in the Premiership so far.

He's also been a regular source of assists for Postecoglou's team with his 11 in all competitions matched only by Jota.

Abada's impressive displays have flown under the radar to an extent in comparison to the higher profile names in the squad but they certainly haven't gone unnoticed.

His 15 goals and 11 assists, in fact, mean he is one of only five under-21 players in Europe's top tiers to clear ten in both categories.

In a list brought to light by Twitter account Football Talent Scout, he ranks third on the list behind Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior (17G 17A) and Bayern Munich's Joshua Zirkzee (17G 10A), on loan at Anderlecht.

Sparta Prague's Adam Hlozek (11G 14A) and Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz (10G 14A) are the only other players in that age group to hit the 'double double' so far.

Abada has registered a goal or an assist for every 122 minutes he has played for Celtic so far this season and has recently been building back to match fitness after a spell on the sidelines.

He managed an hour of the extra-time defeat to Rangers at the weekend and Postecoglou will be hoping he can add to his numbers as they look to get the Premiership title over the line.
