Liam Scales interested in Celtic transfer exit as Aberdeen target permanent switch

Aberdeen will ramp up their interest in Liam Scales this week as they bid to thrash out a deal with Celtic.

The Dons are keen to sign the left-sided defender from the champions, with manager Jim Goodwin a long-term admirer of his fellow Irishman.

Sources in Ireland have confirmed Scales would be interested in moving north to Pittodrie to get regular first-team football.

The 23-year-old arrived at Parkhead last summer from Shamrock Rovers.

He’s played in 13 games for Ange Postecoglou ’s side but has been very much on the fringes.

Aberdeen would prefer a permanent move but, with the finances concerned, a loan deal is more likely.

Goodwin is looking to revamp his squad after his team finished just above the relegation places.

A move for Albanian international midfielder Ylber Ramadani has been agreed and is subject to a work permit before the £100,000 switch from MTK Budapest is completed.

Aberdeen are also keen on a loan move for Jamie McGrath from Wigan and keeper Vaclav Hladky from Ipswich.

St Mirren defender Charles Dunne is another Goodwin’s inquired about.

He’s interested in Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan but Hearts are believed to be in the driving seat for the midfielder’s signature.
