Liam Payne's last emotional photo of son Bear before his death and seven-year-old's statement to his 'daddy'

Fans have flooded to respond to the last photo Liam Payne ever posted of his son following his tragic death. The former One Direction has died, aged 31, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

Local police said the singer fell from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital, before medics confirmed his death.

According to police in Buenos Aires, officers were initially responding to reports “of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol”.

The Foreign Office confirmed it is in contact with authorities in Argentina “regarding reports of the death of a British man”. But a spokesman declined to comment any further, including on the identity of the man involved.

Payne formed boy band One Direction in 2010, alongside Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles, after they individually auditioned for The X Factor. After becoming one of the biggest pop groups in the world with five albums and four world tours, One Direction went on indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Away from his career, Payne welcomed a son, Bear, with singer and former X Factor judge Cheryl in 2017 when he was 23. The couple split the following year after two years together but continued to co-parent.

The couple have kept their son out of the spotlight but have given little glimpses of life with Bear in the past. Back in May, Payne took to his Instagram account to share a snap of the seven-year-old wearing a yellow coat, looking at a huge poster of his singer father.
