Liam Delap can prove Man City point in England Euro U19s final

Everyone at Manchester City knew about Phil Foden and his incredible potential in 2017, but he hadn't quite reached the national conversation just yet.

That was, until he played a starring role in helping England win the under-17 World Cup in India, a first for that age group and a rare international trophy at any age group for the Three Lions. He ended the tournament with a winner's medal, the Player of the Tournament award, and the all-important goal that put England ahead in a 5-2 final win.

Since then, Foden never looked back, and City had to temper expectations for their wonderkid until he was truly ready to fulfil that obvious potential. Now, with two players in the England under-19 squad for today's European Championship final, they will be hoping to have a similar impact as Foden did five years ago.

One player confident of a start will be defender Callum Doyle, who is getting used to winning trophies these days. After playing a part in City's Premier League 2 and under-18 Premier League title triumphs last season, the 18-year-old got a loan move to Sunderland in League One and was a key player for most of the season as the Black Cats finally earned promotion from League One.

Doyle was centre of Sunderland's play-off final celebrations at Wembley, and will be looking to cap off an incredible year with England in Friday's final. He has started all four of their tournament games so far, wearing the number three, and would expect to keep his place for the final against Israel in Slovakia.
