LFC ready to sign £46m-rated “fearless” gem; could be replacement for Klopp’s star - opinion

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp currently has a number of world-class forwards at his disposal, but recent reports are suggesting that he still wants to add some more, particularly with Divock Origi’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will all see their contracts expiring at the end of the next season, but renewal talks are continuing and there is no definite answer to whether or not they will still be at the club beyond May 2023.

However, it’s also possible that Liverpool won’t take any chances, and if a suitable offer comes in for any of those stars after little or no progress in negotiations, they may look to replace them a year ahead of schedule this summer.

One potential arrival at Anfield is Canadian striker Jonathan David, who will reportedly be available in the summer, and Liverpool are also said to be ‘ready‘ to secure his signature.

With Arsenal also rumoured to be interested, a bidding war could potentially ensue for the Lille star, who reportedly has a €55m (£46m) price tag set by his club.

Described as “fearless” by Canada manager John Herdman, the 22-year-old is not the only centre-forward being shortlisted by the Reds, with the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Darwin Nunez and Kylian Mbappe all also being linked with a move to Anfield.

Out of all the strikers mentioned above, David is the most like-for-like replacement for Roberto Firmino in terms of his ability and experience playing as a deeper ‘false nine’ striker, which the Brazilian has done so well under the management of Klopp.
