Lewis Hamilton told to 'stay loyal' to Arsenal amid Chelsea takeover investment plans

Sir Lewis Hamilton has been told to 'stay loyal' to Arsenal, amid plans to invest in Chelsea. The Formula One star has joined in with a surprise bid for Chelsea Football Club, according to Sky News.

Serena Williams is also making a bid for the Blues as part of Sir Martin Broughton’s consortium. Both are said to be pledging £10million towards investment for the club, joining the likes of Lord Sebastien Coe, the President of World Athletics, in the bid. It comes as the takeover appears to be drawing to a conclusion in the near future.

Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale last month, before sanctions were subsequently placed on him by the UK government after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The freezing of the 55-year-old’s assets means that Chelsea have had to operate under a special sporting licence, putting restrictions on things such as ticket sales, merchandising and more.

Nevertheless, Paul Canoville doesn't think it's right for Hamilton to invest in Chelsea. Instead, he has suggested that the 37-year-old stays 'loyal' to his own team.

"Serena [Williams] is on record saying she supports Real Madrid and while I know Lewis has now suggested he was bullied into supporting Arsenal by his sister, he is an Arsenal fan and that's a fact," Canoville wrote in a message on Twitter.

"I will always support Lewis Hamilton in everything he does in F1, he is the greatest ever driver in my opinion and as with Serena, he is a phenomenal icon for black achievement and civil rights. With football though, I think he should stay loyal to his own team."

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Hamilton's proposed investment in the coming
