Lewis Hamilton sends message of support to Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua saw his career take a major blow in Saudi Arabia as he lost out to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch, leaving the Brit titleless with three losses in his last four fights.

It was the same old story for Joshua, who was unable to land the knockout blow to his oppoenent, subsequently being outboxed comfortably by him over the 12 rounds.

It was a unanimous decision victory followed by a split decision victory, with the entire world watching on with the clash being one of the biggest fights of the year.

Usyk now has set up an undisputed clash with Tyson Fury in the heavyweight division, giving us a once in a generation bout later this year.

That’s how big that fight was in Saudi Arabia, so after the result, to see Joshua struggle to contain his emotions was no surprise.

He threw two belts out of the ring, stormed out of the ring himself, before returning and confronting Usyk before going on a long rant in the middle of the ring, stealing the limelight on the Ukrainian’s big moment, making it all about him.

Afterwards, he emotionally broke down in his press conference after failing to contain his emotions and disappointment, as well as posting an apology on social media.

One man that knows about heartbreak on the biggest stage in the Middle East is Lewis Hamilton. He was controversially denied a record breaking eighth world title after an apparent change of rules on the last lap of the season in Abu Dhabi last year to gift the title to his rival, Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman wouldn’t have been able to take the title had it not be for Michael Masi’s interpretation of the rules.

Hamilton paid his respects to Usyk on his Instagram story, saying: “Such a great fight. This guy’s humble and a true champ. Congrats.”
