Lewis Hamilton Has Dropped More Hints Over His Formula One Future

Hamilton was understandably devastated after the final race of the 2021 season, when he was controversially denied a record breaking eighth driver's championship on the last lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

However, on Sunday, the British driver posted on Insta for the first time in eight weeks with a picture of himself simply captioned, "I've been gone. Now I'm back."

This time the former McLaren driver posted a video to his Instagram story, showing him running through the streets of London in the early hours.

He captioned the video, "Back at it with @cullen_angela," as he jogged alongside his trainer, Angela Cullen.

Hamilton signed a new contract last year which would see him drive until the end of the 2023 season but the loss in December had caused worry about his future.

He managed to claw back a deficit in the driver's title to go into the Abu Dhabi race level on points with Verstappen and looked on course to win in the final race.

With just six laps to go a crash further down the track caused a safety car to come out and bunch the drivers back up, and allowed Verstappen to take a pit stop and get fresh tyres.

It looked like lapped cars between the two front runners weren't going to have time to unlap themselves and move out the way however, at the last minute, race director Michael Masi allowed only the behind Hamilton to unlap themselves.

With just fresh tyres, compared to Hamilton's older ones, it was easy for the Dutchman to go flying past and to controversially take his first title.

After all that, and with the regulations changed for 2022 to make things closer for the teams behind, this season could be even spicier than last.

Will Hamilton take his place on the first grid of the season?
